Step One: The 1D Meeting

At Frankel, we call this the “sketch meeting.” Wielding a black sharpie in one hand and a piece of paper in the other, Frankel’s Senior Builder Designer and Creative Director, Rodney Stevens, begins scrawling (upside down) as you talk about your family’s lifestyle, your home’s function, design aesthetic, and more. Rodney’s expertise lies in translating your vision into something tangible — something real that represents who you are.

At the end of the first consultation, you will have a first draft of a beautiful image and layout of your future home.

Step Two: The 2D Meeting

From this point on, things get real. We take your concepts, preferences, and design ideas and transform them into actual 2D renderings of your home. This includes ordering a soils report for your property, translating Rodney’s sketches onto the computer and finalizing the nitty-gritty details such as room dimensions and square footage.

At the end of the second consultation approximately two weeks later, you should have a precise and to-scale model of your dream home.

Step Three: The 3D Meeting

Frankel is the only custom home builder in Houston to offer 3D rendering software. After planning and designing your custom home in our 2D software, our Graphic Design Specialist, Himanshu Madhani, renders your home in 3D. In the software, we show details such as stone texture, countertops, natural lighting, or even how your yard will be shaded at any time of day.

During this meeting, the construction conversations begin to happen. In addition to budget, questions such as “Should we go ahead and add that fifth bedroom?” or “Which trees on the property should we keep?” are all addressed.

At the end of this stage, you should know how your custom home will look — inside and out.
